REQUIRED TESTING

NFPA 25 states that hydrants shall be tested annually to ensure proper functioning. Hydrants shall be opened fully and water flowed until all foreign material has been cleared. After flowing, dry barrel hydrants are to be checked for proper drainage and all stems, caps, plugs and threads are to be checked for proper operation.

MORE THAN JUST A FLOW TEST

In addition to flowing hydrants and checking the proper operation of all components Easton Electronics also monitors and records the actual water pressure during testing. Although not required by NFPA 25 we provide this feature at no additional charge to our customers as we feel it's an important component in assuring a complete functional test. Performing a flow test only confirms actual water flow but does not provide an indication of the volume of water the fire department can expect from a hydrant when needed. This is critical information AHJ's (Authority Having Jurisdiction) appreciate and many times specifically request. Don't risk having non-functional or under-performing hydrants on your property. Stay in compliance and contact us today to learn more about annual hydrant testing with Easton Electronics.
